The practice was established in 1970 by Mr. Dermot Fearon. John Rooney and Terry O’Neill subsequently joined the practice in 1973 and 1976 respectively. Jose Poveda joined the firm in 1992 and Mark Gill in 1997 and became partners in the practice in 2010 following Terry O’Neill’s retirement from the office. Mark joined Fearon O’Neill Rooney Consulting Engineers in 1997 and became a Partner of the practice in 2010. He has over 18 years experience in consulting engineering spanning a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education and healthcare, for both public and private clients. Through this experience Mark has developed the Project Management skills needed to bring a project to a successful conclusion in terms of programme, cost and quality. Mark has particular expertise in the field of Structural Engineering in particular the use of modern engineering design tools including finite element analysis and 3D multi material frame modelling software.

Jose Poveda first worked with this practice in 1992 as a technician during the summer months of his college career and subsequently joined the firm on a full-time basis as a design engineer. He became a Partner of the practice in 2010. He has experience in a vast array of projects including commercial, residential, education, healthcare and conservation, for both public and private clients. Jose has particular experience in SUDS design, small scale flood studies and in conservation projects.
Terry O'Neill

Terence O’Neill was one of the founding partners of Fearon O’Neill Rooney Consulting Engineers. Terry is involved in almost all of the firm’s projects, especially those with special design aspects. He has been involved in consulting engineering for over 45 years and spent eight years as a lecturer in Structural Engineering at Dublin Institute of Technology. He has served on numerous committees of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and the Association of the Consulting Engineers of Ireland and is on a past President of the ACEI. He has given papers on foundation, /archaeology interfaces in an Urban Environment to the Heritage Council’s Kilkenny seminar and the EAA-European Association of Architects.
Terry retired from the Partnership in 2010 and is currently working as a Technical Consultant to Fearon O’Neill Rooney.
